Each of the pieces in the series is hand-built, unique, and often unexpected. In the firing process, sometimes a serendipitous crack (or cracks) appears, calling to mind Leonard Cohen's line, "There's a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in."
For now, I am releasing the last 9 pieces in this series, which come in two sizes with either gold or white gold accents. Unless noted otherwise, the glaze is white with a light shine (not matte, not high-gloss). They are functional sculpture. (Scroll down for details and prices, shipping available.)
This series is inspired both by the Buddhist idea that enlightenment rises like a lotus out of the muck of life and the Victoria lily, an aquatic plant with leaves that can exceed 9' (3m) in diameter. These plants rise up and spread out, transforming their environment in unexpected ways.
