The Piso series merge Cuban cement tile patterns and the blue and white palette of Ming Dynasty export porcelains. Just as Buddhist statues are sometimes worn down by being touched, so are the tile patterns erased by the daily act of walking. I’m interested how the mundane becomes sacred through simple acts carried from generation to the next.
